The out come was the destruction of the Russian naval forces causing the Russia to seek peace. The IJN had ships shadowing the Russian Navy sending wireless signals back to the Japanese commander. The wireless played a major role in this battle. The Japanese raked the Russian ships with HE from the many 6" guns on their ships causing more fires than the could handle. The point is there would be coal dust on the deck of the ship. This was 24 years after the Berlin Airlift. Every time we hit a bit of turbulence you could see a little coal dust. My first trip in an airplane was in a C-54 which carrier coal in the Berlin Airlift. From what I've read they carried extra coal on their decks to make the trip from the Baltic & Black Sea ports to Yellow Sea & Sea of Japan. In the Russo Japanese War the Russians did not have HE shells on their warships.
